The USDA Organic seal indicates that a product containing or made up of agricultural ingredients meet the USDA/NOP (National Organiic Program) organic production, handling, processing and labeling standards and are eligible to be certified under the NOP regulations. The operations which produce the organic agricultural ingredients, the handlers of these agricultural ingredients, and the manufacturer of the final product must all be certified by a USDA-accredited organic certifying agent.
The COSMOS-standard is founded by BDIH (Germany), Cosmebio & Ecocert (France), ICEA (Italy) and the Soil Association (UK) in order to define common requirements and definitions for organic and/or natural cosmetics.
